"The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost." – 1 Tim 1:15. I grew up as an ordinary kid in a beautiful Hindu family in Kuwait with my parents raising me in a respectful way. Growing up we held the typical belief in god as an all-powerful being that would punish the wicked and bless the righteous. We were living pretty decent lives and so we didn’t really worry about not getting into heaven. My parents told stories of the great Hindu epics and also many stories about the gods in Hinduism. My mom had come to know Christ before her marriage. She would sometimes tell of God from the bible as I grew up. As I grew up though, in my adolescent years my innocence was marred. My life in darkness began to grow. I told others I was a Christian (with my secret motives) but I didn't know a thing about the Lord Jesus Christ. But after a while it began to hurt. The guilt was too gripping. Even though I tried fighting my sinfulness, I couldn't. I longed for a clean slate but couldn't give up my carnal desires. It was then at the end of my 11th standard that God came down into my life and showed his mercy, his goodness, his salvation and his love for me. I knew that my life of cleaning up myself by my own strength was futile and the Lord began to work in my heart and make me a new man. I could see God's hand at each step of my life post-schooling. I joined NIT Calicut to do my undergraduate studies in 2013 and by God's grace I was quickly put in touch with the EU student ministry there and with the local church "Bereans Fellowship". God has used the Bereans to reveal to me the beauty of the word of God, the boundless wisdom in it and how to study it personally! The Lord also showed me firsthand how the principles in the Bible are not just beautiful thoughts to hear but that they can and should be applied in our lives. Seeing the lives of other mature believers conform their lifestyles to kingdom values and take bold steps in obedience to the Lord encouraged me to step out of normality and follow the Lord boldly (1 Cor 11:1). In my first year, I was given the privilege of obeying the Lord in the waters of baptism. I've received plenty of opportunities to move out of my comfort zone and learn to love others who aren't as privileged as I am (Matt 25:34-40). I've also gotten the benefit of being corrected when I was in the wrong in a non-judgmental and loving way (Eph 4:5). Bereans fellowship has been one of the instruments that God used to focus my vision on whom it really matters, the Lord Jesus Christ. "To the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen." Jude 1:25.

I came to know God in my tenth standard through one of my friends. I was scolding and beating her like anything. Now, I am happy that I know the truth that the idols I worshiped are not true gods, but Jesus Christ sacrificed himself to redeem me from all my transgressions. The truth I experienced is the everlasting love of God that I didn't receive from any of my intimates like parents, friends etc. God speaks through his word which makes me leap for joy, when I was sad about something. After I came to Bereans church, I learnt lot of things in knowing God. I really learnt how to understand the word of GOD and meditate on the word and obey GOD. I am really blessed to have this wonderful companion. I took baptism in Bereans church and got married also after coming here. During my marriage, God blessed me abundantly in everything. Actually my parents are Hindus. They opposed me a lot to come to God but by God's grace they obeyed to give me to a Christian family. Even then my parents did not participate in any way in my marriage. My father scolded me like "I had 3 eggs, but one got rotten". So he completely left me. But after marriage also God blessed us abundantly in every aspect. So after looking at me after marriage, they are very happy. These are all because of my everlasting Father. Let all the glory be to Him forever and ever. My advice is to obey God in every situation. He will convert any situation into our favor, which I experienced a lot of times. Maintain fellowship constantly.

Being brought up in a traditional Orthodox family, Christianity was introduced to me as a set of rules, traditions and teachings put forward by the church. The most important person in my life, who got me to Christ, was my mother. She was a very prayerful woman and became a believer when I was in 6th Std. I always wanted to be like her and would attentively listen to whatever she would teach me. I started reading the Bible everyday and praying every morning in my own words before going to school. I found myself coming into a much more personal relationship with the Father. All was good till I joined NITC in 2010. Prayer and fellowship with the Lord gradually was pushed away to spend time with the friends I made. Eventually, the Bible just became a book that I kept under my pillow to guard me from the Devil. My GPA also began to drop and I ended up in a relationship, mostly because I think I felt less loved. All this while, I knew I was in the wrong, but didn't have the courage to come out of it and felt ashamed to go to my heavenly Father in that state. Thankfully, God had placed certain people there to encourage me to come back to Christ. My believer friends prayed for me, helped me stand strong in my decision to follow Christ. That was when I was introduced to the Bereans church. It was a huge blessing for me. Inspired by how the fellow believers were so passionate about following Christ, the love they experienced from their heavenly Father, the example that the family set for us, I felt I wanted to do more and be more for Christ. Finally in my third year, I was baptized and made anew. The messages that we heard at church every Sunday morning I would diligently note it down in my diary, go back to hostel n read it once more so that I’ll remember it clearly. The visits to the orphanages and old age homes were such humbling experiences that reminded me how much He loved me. My life took a completely different course and the feeling of belonging that I experienced in Bereans will always be close to my heart. I learnt the importance of fellowship, learnt how to serve people selflessly and also how important it is to maintain my testimony as we are ambassadors and children of Christ.

The way God has shaped my life over the past 25 years has been amazing. I was born and raised up in a godly home which was firmly based on biblical principles. As they say being born again in a “born again” family is tough and if your dad is a pastor, it makes the equation a bit more complicated! So being a pastor’s kid, the spiritual standards expected of me was very high. Attending Sunday school at my church and vacation bible camps opened a new world of the Bible to my young mind. I remember responding to a gospel message at VBS in 1999 when I was 10 years old. It was many years later though that I seriously pondered on what it really meant to be a follower of Christ and accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior and Lord. I thank God for the countless opportunities He provided to listen to the Word over those years. God poured out his grace time and time again through men and women who went out of their way to guide my soul through my turbulent teenage and even now into adulthood. God provided mentors during my B.tech days in Thodupuzha and it was during those years I started being involved with children ministry. The more I got involved in God’s work the more I began to realize that God had a unique plan for my life. In 2012 I joined for M.tech at NIT Calicut and was soon introduced to the Bereans church through my seniors. To be honest it was a whole new experience for me comparing to the church background I come from. The deep-rootedness in the scriptures and the seriousness with which the Word was handled in church had an impact on me. I enjoyed the fellowship of co-believers who showed the earnestness to live a Christ-centered life. I started searching the scriptures in a whole new way and found my life to be wanting in the light of God’s word. The church helped me align myself more to God’s standards and be accountable for my life. The thrust on caring for the helpless and needy was something that has changed my perspective. I vividly remember the many visits to the destitute we made as a church. I also cherish the teachings given on preparation for marriage and building the family on the Word of God. After my M.tech, I took a year’s mission break and was able to travel across the country visiting mission stations and learning about the reality of Indian missions. I have dedicated my life to work among the young people of this country and am praying and waiting for the Lord’s specific leading in this matter. Bereans church has truly been a blessing to me and has made a lasting impact on my walk with God. All praise and glory be to Him alone.

During my childhood,my mother trained me to pray to Jesus Christ and to attend Sunday school regularly. Though my family belonged to a traditional orthodox christian community in Kerala, my father gave us the freedom of choice when it came to matters of religious beliefs. So from a very early age I was exposed to different Christian groups, had heard the gospel and responded to it. While I was in the 2nd year of college, one of my seniors whom I met through UESI gave me a CD which was a study on Romans. As I listened to it,I felt that I was such a hypocrite.Outwardly I looked good and religious ,but not in my heart and my thoughts.I repented and recommitted my life to Jesus. After that,I started experiencing Christ in my life like never before. Then,I was led to restrain myself from some of the activities in college and a few close friendships which hindered me from having a clear conscience. Meanwhile,I was directed by a senior advisor to a small home church which was later named Bereans.Their humble gatherings ,yet rich with the study of the Word helped me to grow spiritually and I began to see the beauty of godly homes as I interacted with their families. Life Revision Seminars organised by them, were times of immense spiritual refreshment. I was also blessed by the fellowship of a group of believers who gathered regularly for prayer in the hostel. I cherish those days of college life. As I look back, the Lord in His mercy brought many loved ones who sacrificially invested their time and resources to guide me during the various phases of my life. I am deeply indebted and very thankful to all of them . It is my earnest prayer that I too would be of use to reach out to the needy as Christ has reached out to me through His people.I am now married to a loving husband and have two beautiful children.

Being bought up in a Pentecostal Christian family, attending church meetings and Sunday school was just normal. I accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized while I was in high school. I was brought up in a godly family with a godly church. Growing up in the Bahrain I was exposed to a very liberal moral culture. There were certain areas in my life where I failed. And looking around most of my peers, even at church, failed in those areas too. I was sort of becoming numb in my Christian life, lacking the power of Christ, discouraged by the things I saw around. I began to think no one could really live like Jesus lived - Holy and Pure. In June of 2010, I came to Calicut for my engineering studies. I was introduced to the Bereans Church during this time. I saw many true Christian brothers, sisters and families who walked in Christ and were becoming more like Him. I began to hear about things like serving others with a selfless attitude, having a burden for the lost souls, loving everyone with Christ’s love and living to obey God at His word. I began to unlearn a lot of notions I held about the faith. It also taught me to accept believers from other churches with whom I had differences of opinion on certain doctrines. The church gave me many relations in Christ which I really cherish and hold onto. The church also gave me many venues to serve. God took me through a major crisis in my life at this time with me losing my father. The brothers and sisters were such a support at this time and I really experienced the love of Christ through them. The church taught me the centrality of the Word of God in my life. Like the believers of Berea I began to actually search the scriptures for the things I heard. Certainly my life has not become perfect yet, I believe it was in God’s marvellous plan to lay this foundation in my life and I am so grateful to Him for it. At the end of these four years, I am sure of one thing, the only purpose worth living for is to live for Christ. May the name of the Lord be glorified.

I grew up in a traditional Christian family. As a kid I was never serious about God, bible and all. When I was 14, my parents came to the Lord. I started loving the fellowship where my parents went because they used to play good music. During those times I never realized that I am a sinner and I too need a savior. It was in one of the meetings, when one guest Pastor was preaching from the word and Holy Spirit convinced me of my sins and made me realize that I need Jesus. I took decision to take baptism and was baptized very next Sunday. I thought that life would be very simple as I have Jesus in my heart. But it was not the reality. Slowly spiritual pride came to my life. There was no change in my lifestyle. I had no assurance of my salvation. But it was God's plan that he placed me in Calicut. There God taught me that being Christian is more than attending meetings and singing songs. From the word He made me understand that blessing is not getting material things but it is becoming more like Jesus and God's will for me is to show forth His glory and to be His witness. I will be always thankful to God for giving me Bereans fellowship. I could participate in many outreach ministries of the church like visiting the sick, visiting old people. The truth that I understood from Bereans fellowship is the most precious treasure of my life. Now I have assurance that God is my Eternal Father and He has redeemed me, not with corruptible things, as silver and gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

I belong to a Mar Thomite family. Though I had known about Christ, yet I never fully understood the depth of the sacrifice that Lord Jesus Christ gave for me. In my first year in NITC, I came to know a friend who shared the love of Christ with me. I started going to meetings and attending the church during my second year. It was the first time in my life when I could see the Bible as not just a holy book but as the living word of God. Slowly God worked in my life showing me that I am a sinner and in desperate need of a savior. After getting convicted in my spirit I took the decision to obey the Lord in the waters of baptism in my third year. Being associated with Bereans really helped me grow through the Bible studies, the fellowship, mission trips, etc. Every day God is sanctifying me and I can see God’s mighty hand in all of my endeavors, even in my job location. I know that I am not perfect yet, but I know that God is working in me every moment so that I may be able to conform to the image of Christ. God used the Bereans ministry in really building up the early years of my life as a believer where I could see people actually following God’s word and not just preaching it. I witnessed the lives of many people humbly following the Lord in serving God’s people and reaching out to those in need of love.

God revealed the truths through His Word. Later, coming to Calicut for studies and for work, I Iearned more of God's will, how to live a life that is worthy of the calling and being a blessing to others. The biblical truths that has God taught through Bereans Fellowship for 3 years has helped me in practical Christian living.

Testimony :

I came to the Lord in the beginning of 2012, midway through my third year in college. I was from a Christian background, and had received many teachings about Christ, but the Lord had not been a reality in my life. As I entered college, I got all the opportunities to exercise the sin that was within me. I got into a relationship, and when that had ended, I started using drugs and alcohol. But by the grace of God, He arranged circumstances for me to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ through a dear brother. I repented of my sin and put my trust in the Lord, and my life was transformed, because now, Jesus was real in my life. God also arranged circumstances so that, I became a part of Bereans towards the end of 2012, and I am truly thankful to the Lord for it. One of the greatest encouragements to have a man obey the Lord more heartily is to lead by example. In matters of service, evangelisation of lost sinners in the community, or obeying the Lord fully in all things, the believers in the church have led by example. This greatly encouraged me to progress in my Christian life, and yield more fully to the Lord. Through the life of the church God helped me see that the Christian life was not a mere theory as I previously believed, but a true practical life lived out by the power of God. I have been greatly encouraged to see the church uncompromisingly hold on to truth as revealed in the Scriptures, despite all of us coming from many different backgrounds. As a part of the church, I also learnt to respect and love and learn from brothers in Christ, who gathered with different churches but might hold to different opinions about non-central doctrines. My life has been blessed much by this church, and the Lord has used this church to give me a solid foundation to build my Christian life ahead.

THE LORD HAS DONE GREAT THINGS FOR US; WE ARE GLAD. PSALMS 126:3
